Locating her work in the interstice between movement and surface, she is presenting performance-installation events in gallery-school-street-theatre spaces. See current events. Since 2009, she is a lecturer in choreography at UCF/Dartington Campus, England.

In 2006 she completed the MA programme at Dance Unlimited at the Theatre School Amsterdam, in choreography and new media. Here, between 2004-2007, she developed collaborative performance projects on moving/drawing, including Echo Echo 2005 , FLAAA___T 2005 , Hands Up/Hands Down 2006 and the website-project Moving/Drawing, an archive of traces 2006. The performance-event Ets-Beest for/with 2-4 year olds, is touring festivals and symposia throughout Europe since 2007.

Her essay That Folds Back on a Memory of Walking on Chalk Paths was published in DansWetenschap en Onderzoek, LET/University of Utrecht 2008.

She has developed work in residencies at L'Animal A L'Esquena, Spain 2006 and 2007, Centro Coreografico de la Gomera 2008 and Het Veem Theater Amsterdam 2009.

Katrina Brown studied Mathematics 1979-83 at Exeter University, Devon, England and received a 1st class honours B.Ed.

After studying briefly in 1986/1987 at the School for New Dance Development in Amsterdam, she danced in productions of Tamara Huilmand from 1987-90, touring in Holland, Belgium and France. She later collaborated with Tamara Huilmand in two duets Number 101, Your Time is Up 1993 and Nr102 TweeVrouw 1994.

In 1992 she made the solo By The Way, solofestival Amsterdam, followed by Greenriverredriver 1994 (DansWerkplaats Amsterdam/ Chisenhale London) and collaborations with live music Dance You Monster 1995 with trumpettist Rajesh Mehta (De Melkweg productions) and K-K- Kip 1997 with songwriter Han Buhrs ([Nes]theaters).

Her first group pieces were produced by DansWerkplaats Amsterdam, Sob Sob 1995 and Ha Ha Sob Sob 1996. From 1997-2003, the [Nes]theaters in Amsterdam produced her work, receiving money from Dutch funding bodies; Divas and Cowboys 1999-2000, A Man 2001 and Amoeba Blues 2003.

She received a commission to make a short dance film, Waterman, in 2003, in collaboration with Han Buhrs and Rein Hazewinkel as part of the film Body of Water, for the BBC (UK) and NPS (NL ).


Since 2004 she is a fully qualified Shiatsu Therapist.
